  • I was always a bit iffy on this album. MM IMO has some of their most boring material, Sexy Mexican Maid being the worst offender. The album does however have two of my all time favorite songs: Taste the Pain: the atmosphere of the song and the way the tale of heartache is told fit so amazingly together. They have rarely played it live. Probably.
  • This is the true breakthrough album by the Chili Peppers, driven by the "semi hit" singles Higher Ground (a Stevie Wonder cover) Taste The Pain and lead single Knock Me Down. Being the fourth album released by the group you have a collection of great songs by a band fully finding their identity and sound/5().

  • Previously, this article was led with the sentence: "Mother's Milk is the fourth studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on August 16, , on EMI." This is problematic since it identifies the fourth album as its name, rather than as its characteristics.
